French For All

Learn French Through Francophone Cinema

CinéSchool is a free educational film program for young audiences, designed to support French language learning in the United States through French-language and Francophone cinema.
Part of the French For All initiative launched by Villa Albertine and Albertine Foundation, CinéSchool gives teachers access to a curated selection of films for students from elementary school to high school, along with ready-to-use educational resources.
The program is fully digital: students watch the films online at home during designated viewing weekends, while teachers use classroom materials, interactive quizzes, and post-screening activities to guide the learning experience before and after each film.

Registration for the 2026–2027 Edition
Teachers can register their classes for one or several films, depending on their students’ age group, language level, and curriculum goals. Discover the 2026–2027 Film Selection here.

Who Can Participate?
CinéSchool is open to French teachers in the United States, including those teaching in public schools, private nonprofit schools, accredited French schools and AEFE network schools, Alliances Françaises (as part of a class), and FLAM programs

CinéSchool in Numbers
Since its launch in 2021, CinéSchool has grown steadily across the United States. During its first edition in 2021–2022, the program reached 110 schools, 115 teachers, and 3,800 students. By 2024–2025, CinéSchool had grown to 175 schools across 39 states, with 221 teachers and a record 14,600 students. This means that student participation has nearly quadrupled since the program began, while teacher participation has almost doubled. This growth reflects the increasing role of CinéSchool as a trusted and recurring resource for French classrooms across the country.

How CinéSchool Works
CinéSchool is designed as a simple, flexible learning journey:
– Before the film, teachers prepare students in class using workbooks and pedagogical materials.
– During the viewing weekend, students watch the film online at home through FestivalScope, using their teacher’s access.
– After the film, students complete interactive comprehension activities on Genially and share their responses in French on Padlet.
This format helps extend French learning beyond the classroom and gives students the opportunity to engage with authentic French-language content at their own pace.

Why Join CinéSchool?
CinéSchool helps teachers bring French to life through cinema. The program combines language learning, cultural discovery, and digital tools in a way that is accessible, engaging, and easy to integrate into the curriculum. Each edition includes films selected for different age groups and classroom themes, with attention to age appropriateness, educational relevance, linguistic accessibility, and the diversity of French-speaking cultures. Teachers receive ready-to-use resources that support vocabulary acquisition, listening comprehension, oral expression, and cultural reflection.
As one participating teacher shared: “My students are thrilled to be part of this initiative that goes beyond the classroom walls.”
