U.S. Tour exploring Eliane Radigue’s works

Blank Forms will present a program that will reassess the span of Eliane Radigue’s oeuvre by engaging her early and largely unknown tape pieces in direct encounter with recent acoustic compositions. Played by Rhodri Davies, Robin Hayward, Charles Curtis and Dafne Vicente-Sandoval, concerts will include New York, San Francisco, Philadelphia and San Diego.

Performances and master classes by American composers

Columbia Global Center in Paris has invited young American composers Zosha di Castri, Keith Moore, Wang Lu and Ramin Arjomand to perform works that have rarely been presented in France.

Ensemble C Barré, through a partnership with Ithaca College, NY, is enriching its repertoire by commissioning three new pieces exploring timbre and color. Readings and workshops will be given to students in France and the U.S.

U.S. Tour of Walking in Beauty by Thierry Pécou

Inspired by Navajo sacred stories and traditions, Thierry Pécou worked with Laura Tohe (Native American poet) for this new project. Performances and master classes of ensemble Variances will include the Detroit Institute of Art, and the University of Cleveland.

Residency program – Académie Voix Nouvelles

Including Annie Hui-Hsieh, Alex Stephenson, Matthew Chamberlain, Tonia Ko and more Académie Voix Nouvelles is a program that gives young composers and interpreters the opportunity to create, work and perform together. Supervisors of this year’s program include Philippe Hurel, Alberto Posadas, and Maura Lanza.

GMEA Albi – Centre National de Création Musicale d’Albi (Albi, France) Commission to Catherine Lamb for Ensemble Dedalus

GMEA Albi and its ensemble Dedalus have commissioned American composer Catherine Lamb for a new creative project entitled “Prisma Interius.” The premiere of the piece will be presented in Albi in October 2018.

Commission to Raphaèle Biston

Musiqa will commission Raphaèle Biston for a new project, a piece for nine musicians based on natural sounds, evolving to mechanical and artificial situations. Performances will be organized in the Greater Houston area in May 2019.

For the Barnes-Stokowski Festival in October 2018, the Philadelphia Orchestra Association (POA) and SoundLAB will present works of contemporary French composers including Tristan Murail, Sophie Lacaze, Philippe Manoury, Eliane Radigue and many more.

Qubit New Music (New York, United States)
Co-creation with Sound Initiative (French collective)

Including Winnie Huang, Joshua Hyde, Julia Robert, Gwen Rouger, Benjamin Soister and Paolo Vignaroli Qubit, a New York music collective, invited French group Sound Initiative to collaborate on a new creation combining instrumental craft with a performative response to the architecture of their own venues, in New York and Paris.

Trio SR9 (Lyon, France)
U.S. Residency and Tour

Young musicians from Trio SR9 will create new works during a one-week residency at New York’s Lycée Français, and perform a body percussion piece with hundreds of students. Following the residency, performances will be given in Westchester and Philadelphia.

Boston Microtonal Society
For a collaboration project between the American ensemble Notariotous and the French ensemble 2E2M (the latter will be in residence in Boston during the month of November 2011). Music by French composers P. Méfano, L. Martin, A. Bancquart and F.Bedrossian

California E.A.R. Unit Foundation, Los Angeles
For the American premiere of the work This Leads to Emotional Stasis by the French composer Pierre Jodlowski. The latter will take up residency in California in early 2012, followed by a residency of the American musicians in Toulouse in July 2012, and the premiere at the RedCat Theater at Disney Hall in Los Angeles on November 12, 2012.

Cité de la Musique, Paris
For a retrospective on the music of the American composer Steve Reich in October 2011 with 5 concerts and public talks.

Georgia Institute of Technology/Sonic Generator, Atlanta
For the presentation in June of 2012 of the film Metropolis (F. Lang) accompanied by music by the Franco-Argentinean composer Martin Matalon. The Latter will travel to the United States for the event, work with the ensemble, and lead master classes with the students.

ICE (International Contemorary Ensemble), New York
For the project entitled ICELAB in collaboration with two Paris resident composers : Patricia Alessandrini and Juan Pablo Carreno (Villa Medicis 2011). Commission, residency, and concerts in the United States from January through December 2012.

New York City Ballet, New York
For the commission of a new work by the French composer Marc-André Dalbavie with a new choreography by American choreographer Peter Martins. The former will be present in New York during the month of May 2012

New York Philharmonic, New York
For the production of a concert dedicated to French contemporary music and to the IRCAM on June 8th and 9th, 2012, the commission of a new work by composer Michael Jarrel, as well as Explosante Fixe by Pierre Boulez and Backdraft by Yann Robin.

Philidelphia Museum of Art
For the commission the French composers Philippe Hurel and Tristan Murail, on the theme of Auguste Rodin. The concerts will take place in Philadelphia during the summer of 2012 and will be performed by the American ensemble Argento under the musical direction of Michel Galante

St. Louis Orchestra
To support the commission of a work entitled Synapse by the French composer Philippe Manoury. The premiere will take place in October 2011 in Saint-Louis in the presence of the composer and under the direction of American Conductor David Robertson.

Talea Ensemble, New York
For the production of the work Avis de Tempête by the French composer Georges Aperghis. The American premiere will take place at the beginning of 2013 at The Kitchen (4 concerts). The composer will be in residency in New York for the occasion.

Third Coast Percussion, Chicago
For the presentation in concert and recording of the work Le Noir de l’Etoile by the French composer Gérard Grisey. The concerts will take place in Chicago and Dekalb, IL, Buffalo, NY, and Philadelphia, PA.
