Films on the Green is returning this summer to celebrate ‘Sports and Cinema’ with a captivating selection of French and international cinema. From May 31 to September 6, this year’s 16th edition will showcase 11 stunning features across eight beautiful parks in Manhattan and Brooklyn, celebrate the thrill, competition, and triumph of sports.

Join us for an unforgettable cinematic journey centered on the power and passion of sports, set against the backdrop of New York City’s beautiful parks!

Free and open to the public. Registration is recommended but not required.

Films on the Green is a free outdoor French film festival produced annually in New York City by Albertine Foundation, Villa Albertine, and The French Embassy. Screenings are free and open to the public, and all films are shown with English subtitles.

Films on the Green’s mission is to provide free access to high-quality, diverse film programming —contemporary and classic French and international cinema— for a young, diverse audience in beautiful green settings throughout New York City.

Films on the Green was first launched in 2008 as a community-oriented festival that reaches out to audiences in the heart of their own neighborhoods —in parks and community gardens across New York City. Since then, the festival has expanded tremendously. This summer, Films on the Green will present 11 free screenings in 8 different parks across New York City: discover the 16th edition here.

Films on the Green is one of our favorite outdoor movie series, not only for its inherent Frenchiness but because it takes you on a summer-long tour of the city’s coolest parks.

Time Out New York

The Films on the Green Festival is like no other, offering extraordinary entertainment, and a taste of France itself in the very streets of New York.

URBAN MATTERS

Audience

With a dynamic and diverse following, the festival reached more than 5,000 people in 2022. Although Films on the Green’s target audience is New Yorkers ages 25-40, the festival attracts cinephiles (French cinema lovers) of all ages and appeals to French and francophone communities across New York City.

The festival enjoys a loyal and committed audience: most attend more than one screening per season and invite friends along throughout the summer.
