Ongoing training for DLI teachers and administrators is crucial to maintain high teaching standards, stay updated with DLI education best practices, and ensure effective language immersion for students. For this purpose, the Albertine Foundation supports ongoing professional development through two initiatives : the French for All Summer Institute and the French Dual Language Leadership Seminar.
The French for All Summer Institute provides selected teachers with training in curriculum development, classroom management and use of resources specific to French DLI, as well as the opportunity to network and work closely with professionals in the field. The Albertine Foundation will cover the cost of the training, housing (private room and shared bathroom), and meals during the Summer Institute. Please note that participants are responsible for their own transportation costs.
For the first time in 2025, the Summer Institute will welcome educators from a wide array of French teaching backgrounds, including Dual Language and Immersion (DLI) programs, French as a Heritage Language, French as a World Language, and French in Higher Education.
This 5-day seminar will kick off with a common day for all participating teachers, followed by four days where teachers will take part in workshops tailored to their specific teaching program. Whether you’re focused on DLI, Heritage, World Language, or Higher Education, the tailored sessions will offer resources and strategies unique to your field.
The French for All Summer Institute will take place from June 16 to June 20, 2025 at the University of Wisconsin – Madison. Interested teachers may apply until March 2, 2025 through this form : Apply here!
The French Dual Language Leadership Seminar is an event aimed at promoting and supporting French DLI education in the United States. This seminar brings together current leaders, administrators, advocates, and policymakers to discuss best practices, share resources, and develop strategies for enhancing French DLI education programs. The Albertine Foundation will cover the cost of the training, housing, and lunches. Please note that participants are responsible for their own transportation costs and other meals.
In 2025, the seminar will take place from October 15 to October 17, 2025 at the French Embassy in Washington D.C.
